Neopolitan (The Buried: Wide Open)

[Neopolitan was absolutely the sort of person who wandered through the labyrinths because she was bored and wanted something to do. She could ostensibly use the excuse that she was a Hunter and making sure no monsters came out, but really? This was for the sheer fun of it all. Nothing more complicated than that.

So, now, having dragged someone with her she was standing inside of a room, brushing off her clothes from the remains of various bugs. Yeah, that had been a less than pleasant room to get here, but at least she'd managed to avoid getting eaten alive, so bonus even if she wasn't keen on backtracking.

Looking around, she spied one of those orbs and walked over to look at it before pausing and just staring at a plinth in the center of the room. There was a book on it. If the person with her knew her well, they might have been surprised that she was approaching it quite that curiously. She wasn't exactly known for being an avid reader, but something was calling out to her...]

Albert Wesker / Resident Evil

I - Exposure/Incubation - Open - Among the dusty tomes - some bound in peculiar leather - ranged along the shelves, Wesker finds a few books which at first glance don't seem to belong: a battered cookbook with a pastel scheme cover, a journal with midnight blue glitter half rubbed off and written in a spidery hand, and then a magazine which he'd normally never have given a second look even in the grocery checkout.

Except the cover model looks like something that shambled through the streets of Raccoon City during its last days. The headlines catch his attention, enough to read some of them aloud and flip through the pages. "'Bug Hunting for Beginners: Seven STIs and How to Catch Them.' They make it sound like a stamp collection. 'Hardcore Glamour Gore; How to Keep Your Zombie Complexion Freshly Decomposed'. 'Blow His Mind While You Break His Spine: 10 Excruciatingly Kinky Moves'." He tilts his head as he examines the diagram. "Well. That's anatomically impossible, though I suppose that's the point."

Sensing an itch in the angle of his shoulder and his neck, he reaches up and scratches it. "I suppose someone would consider this a means of 'living their best life' in spite of - or to spite - one's pathogens."

II - Prodromal - Open - The itching has grown more pronounced and constant. He tries to ignore it, but the effect persists. He tries rubbing it through his shirt, but to no avail. Applying the usual salves and upping his Blood intake has no effect. Soaking in the Salt Lake does nothing to help. He swallows his pride and tries the bath-house at Achelliac, but that presents its own set of problems.

While soaking in a hot bath, he discovers the affected area has taken on a black-tinger purple color on a wide swatch of the skin from the hollow of his elbow to the base of his neck.

He's not the only one to notice it. "Hey, Vileblood, get your rotting flesh out of the clean bath?" the next patron to approach the bath snarls.

"Never seen a bruise before?" Wesker drawls, barely able to keep from back-handing the interloper.

III - Decline/Recovery - Open to message interceptions, though more inclined to close CR

[CW: Body horror, rotted wounds and blood referenced.]

The condition only worsened. What started as an irritant and a series of blemishes has intensified, eating into his flesh. He tries binding the wounds in gauze bandages, particularly where clothes won't hide it, but it's reached a point where he's more bandage than exposed skin.

A message may appear in one's inbox: "I require your assistance. Don't be alarmed. It doesn't feel as bad as it looks, though I cannot say it tickles either. Conventional methods haven't had a response. A.W." Attached to it are several photos: one shows the right side of his face, down to his shoulder, another of his right arm, down to the elbow. Something has eaten away the skin with a blackish rot seeping greenish fluid.
