The demon has become so attached and coiled on his back that when he is suddenly frozen in place somewhere in a more sparse part of town by a waking nightmare, finding a way to get it off is not easy. He's standing partially facing the wall of a building and his eyes are rolled into the back of his head, breathing fast and a wound starts to open around his throat.
Shaking him out of it won't get a reaction and attempting to physically hurt or get at the demon will result in the demon using its grip on him to yank him in the way of any attempts.]
