[ Daniel has absolutely no idea of what's going on. Or what's been going on, really. He's been too busy with even just trying to get himself settled in this place, trying to adjust to the strange ways in which Trench is so very different from anything he's gotten used to back home.

And then there's the fact that he did manage to find a few items from home - which is a good thing, since they at least give him a little bit of comfort. But in the case of mister Miyagi's truck it also meant the entire thing had to be cleaned after its journey here, which has been quite a project for Daniel over the past few days.

And of course, of course, right as he's finished with it, he finds the absolute most horrifying message from Johnny on his Omni. Let's be real, any message that says the sender is Johnny Lawrence is awful, but it's even worse when it's quite literally threatening one of his few dear possessions in this place.

Which is why by the time Johnny shows up, Daniel is already sitting in the truck itself. In the driver seat. Because he knows that if he didn't, Johnny is crazy enough to just get in there and take off. It wouldn't even be the first time he's seen it happen!! And he is absolutely not letting the other take and drive mister Miyagi's truck. Never.

Not that he looks happy sitting there, mind you. He frowns as he sees the blonde approach, already speaking up with a loud: ]

Johnny, what the hell is going on?!

[ --before the other has even had a chance to fully reach the truck yet. ]

[Johnny is quick to put himself in the passenger seat of the truck and because he's not driving he even takes the time to buckle his seat belt. He didn't like this- Reaching out to LaRusso for help, for his things, but Johnny felt like it was the best way to go about this. If LaRusso and Tory were right they had been able to work together at least and he was going to bank on that being true.

For all their faults LaRusso had done right by Robby. Surely he could do right by some more kids too.]

Listen, LaRusso. You don't like me and I don't like you. But I'm going to need you to sit down, shut up and trust me on this.

Some asshole has been fucking around with my students here. We're getting them out of there.

[ Johnny Lawrence actually bothering to use his seatbelt?

Maybe this is a more serious situation after all than Johnny's weird threat-like message would indicate. Daniel frowns as he listens to Johnny's explanation, but rather than waiting around once the other is talking, Daniel too puts on his seat buckle and - after a moment - turns on the engine to start the car.

He has absolutely no idea what this situation is about, sure, but it's clear Johnny is being serious here, rather than just janking Daniel's chain over nothing. And if there are kids in trouble, even if they are not Daniel's own kids - either biological or karate-related - then there's no way he can idly start by.

The car starts moving across the cobblestone streets, but though Daniel is making sure to look at the road ahead of them, he's also glancing aside to the other guy from time to time. ]

Look. I'm willing to help.

[ As evidenced by the fact they're driving now, rather than still just sitting there and not moving. ]

But you've got to at least explain this a little better to me. What's been going on? [ He's only been here for a few days! Daniel has hardly even managed to wrap his brain around the entire concept of this place, let alone having been able to actually keep up with recent things going on here. ]

[Johnny keeps quiet at first but it's clear he's tense. His hand clutching the arm rest of the car as he occasionally let's his head slide toward the window to get an idea if they're heading the right away.

When LaRusso speaks up he looks over his way and at first he has no idea what to say. The water had been so murky between the two of them for so long that Johnny didn't trust him immediately when he said it. But there's a pause as he considers all he did for Robby. ...And even in his all his stubborn rage he couldn't deny that LaRusso had been looking out for his son's best interest. There's a light exhale as he doesn't exactly relax but he finds he words to say.]

I've been training these kids for a few months now. They're good kids who've had some rough spots here and there.

And they've been living with a guy who I thought was on the level. Was going to treat them right and teach 'em how to get through shit when life got tough.

Turns out he's a fucking asshole though. Dragged them out onto some fucking boat and had them doing god knows what. Really fucked with them.

...So we're getting them out of there. Plain and simple.

.. okay.

[ There's a pause before that and after Johnny is done talking. Like Daniel at least has to consider this for a moment here - if not just because the plan is coming from Johnny, and the other's judgement can be.. well, a little bit murky at times. Maybe more than just a little bit murky.

On the other hand, Daniel does like to think that Johnny knows the difference between someone who is truly terrible to children and someone Johnny just doesn't like on a personal level. At least the one Daniel knew back home, from a little bit later down the line than the Johnny sitting right next to him now.

And if there's really kids in trouble, then who would he be to say no to this plan? The blonde seems serious enough about it, from what Daniel can see. It's rare to see Johnny this much on edge. It seems to be such a genuine emotion. ]

You think this guy is going to give us trouble when we show up?

[ That's the next step. Now Daniel has fully agreed to working along with this, he wants to be prepared for what they'll find when they stop there. ]

[Johnny had a soft spot for the kids in his life that was for sure. Whether it was Miguel, Hawk, Bert, any of the kids from back home or the ones he had met here. They had done a lot to help pull him out of the hole he had dug himself into. He owed them everything to make sure they didn't fall into the same sort of situation he had been in.

Johnny gives that some thought and actually doesn't have a good answer.]

I don't know- He's more the kind of guy to sit back and let other people do his dirty work by the looks of it.

[And then it suddenly dawns on him how much he's actually asking of LaRusso here.]

You're free to back out if you want. I get this isn't your fight.

[ It's a little surprising - the fact Johnny would even bring up that last part in the first place, especially after how this started. (Then again, that's typical of Johnny, isn't it? Strike first, think second.)

It shows, too, because it seems to render Daniel quiet for a moment. He glances ahead of him, using the fact that he's got to pay attention to the awful road instead as an excuse to be quiet for a moment before speaking up, and not that he had to just process that for a moment. ]

I've been here for a few days now. [ He then finally starts. ] And I still have absolutely no idea what's going on here.

[ Just in general. With this place. Everything. It's so confusing. ]

But if there's a bunch of kids in trouble, then it doesn't matter whether I know them, or whether I know what's going on at all. I'm not going to stand by while they're in trouble. [ Even if they're Johnny's kids, rather than his own. Daniel knows he would've done the same thing back home. ] Or let you run in there by yourself.

[ Because he has seen back home how that can end.. And in this place there's even a bigger chance that only one person might not be enough. ]

Even if that means-- I don't know, facing down some three-armed alien or whatever else this place has got in store. [ He doesn't know! Basically everyone he's run into seems to have some weird supernatural thing going on for them!

So this guy they're about to face probably does too. ]

[And Striking First is exactly what Johnny was doing here. Daniel was the only person here he really trusted in a fight. He would never admit that for a second and he'd just go on convincing himself it's only because he's seen Daniel fight and not because he thought he was any good.


He does manage to give a little snort hearing that and it takes the edge off the situation.]

I'm pretty sure it's mostly skeletons. He's used them a bunch to help me advertise the dojo. We're probably going to have to break some when we get back to my place too.

...But the kids will appreciate that. Trust me. They're good, kids.

[Because Johnny definitely doesn't appreciate it. Obviously.]

And if it makes you feel any better. You never really figure out what's going on here. You mostly roll with the punches.

That's lovely to hear. [ Said with the sort of tone that implies that, of course, it's not lovely at all.

In a sense it's a bit of a relief that Johnny also thinks this place is nuts. Since they come from the same place, so they're used to the same stuff, which makes it validating that they see that stuff the exact same way. If anything, Johnny is definitely a little wilder than Daniel himself is - or likes to think he is, ssh - so that makes it make even more sense that Daniel thinks this place is utterly ridiculous.

After he sighs though, he continues with: ]

Well, we should be able to handle a few skeletons. [ Hopefully?? ] I mean, it can't be worse than just fighting regular people. Skeletons don't even have a brain. If they get in the way, we'll just have to knock them right over.

[ Is that a little more aggressive than the usual with Daniel? Maybe. A little bit. But he's grown a bit over the past few months, and.. besides, they're skeletons.

It's not like they'd be hurting actual people. ]
