"I may be Sith, but I'm not a slave to the dark side. They asked to be free of me now that I no longer needed them, but that would have simply sent them back to their tombs to haunt. I had enough light within me to share it with them, and it helped them find peace."

He briefly wonders if his ancestor's ghost is still hanging around his own tomb in Ezra's era. Talwyn hasn't spoken to him in years.

Ezra smiles faintly, with approval. "It wouldn't have worked unless you choose to help and they where will willing to accept that help."

Which may be stating the obvious, but it's an important point to Ezra.

"I'm...really certain that the Sith of my native time would all say that to be Sith it to fully embrace the Dark. That everything you just relayed to me is a sign of weakness."

[drawsghosts]

"Oh, plenty of Sith in my own time see it as a weakness too. Then again, plenty of Jedi in my time believe that so much as looking at a Sith holocron will lead you to becoming one with the Dark Side, so it goes both ways."

Speaking of, Talwyn holds up a hand for Ezra to wait a moment, before retreating into his bedroom. He returns holding the Sith holocron he got down in the tunnels the other month.

"Perhaps there's an answer in here as to your predicament."

He eyes the holocron skeptically. "Ok, I've done the messing around with Sith holocrons things, so I both know better than to think it's going to make me turn on sight, and don't want to go down that road again."

He sighs. "What's it got you think might help?"

"It's basically an encyclopedia of Sith teachings. Perhaps there's something in here about Force ghosts, or remaining behind after death."

Talwyn focuses on the holocron and opens it, the red glow reflecting in his eyes. After a minute, he closes it again and lets it rest on his palm.

"Nothing. Not even a mention of ghosts." It was worth a shot.

Ezra keeps his attention focused, while Tawlyn interacts with the holocron, both to hopefully keeping himself here - for a given value of 'here' and also attentive with his sense in the Force, trying to get a read on just how the Sith uses the Dark while open the holocron.

"That's gotta be disappointing to you on a couple of levels," Ezra observes - his own feelings on the matter seem....distant.

"But thanks for trying?"

"Sadly, the Sith tend to strive towards regular immortality, where they never have to become ghosts at all." Talwyn puts down the holocron for now. Not like Ezra's going to take it, he figures.

"My ancestor's ghost could probably offer advice, but he's beyond my reach at the moment."

"Immortality's not something you're particularly interested in?" Ezra asks, morbidly curious.

"Maybe if there was a way to obtain it ethically or without seeping yourself in the Dark Side," Talwyn shrugged. "My master tried to obtain immortality at my expense." Had Khem not been with him, he would have been a goner.

"You're so...reasonable," Ezra marvels quietly. "Still trying to reconcile that with the Imperius part."

Even more than the Darth part, really. A talented Force users under a full fledge Sith Empire, unless they rejected the system they were born into entirely, it's a logical path.
