[ she hears the explosions long before the screams. it's impossible to not hear them - even at a distance, they're loud, sharp peals of thunder that make her skin crawl and her scalp tingle. a bomb? no way. too regular, too frequent. even if it were several bombs, they'd be overlapping more. these explosions are happening at an almost human frequency - just a bit too fast, is all.

like someone fighting for their life. like someone with an explosion quirk. like someone who moves too quickly for most of her classmates to stop during drills and spars, someone that she's sure she stands no chance against face-to-face. what good would it even do for her to show up? he doesn't want to see her. none of them do. he can handle himself-

-not that that matters, right now. another explosion echoes out, louder and more furious than ever, and himiko starts running. it doesn't matter if he wants to see her. it doesn't matter if he needs help. right now, something bad's going down, and she's got to do something to help stop it.

each step she gets closer, she realizes a little bit more just what a terrible decision it is she's made. the explosions just keep growing louder and louder; they start to differ, too, through sound first and then scent and then that terrible pressure before she's even close enough to see any of it. shockwaves, burning heat, smoke and ash all overwhelming her senses. she should turn around. she shouldn't be here. what's someone with a quirk like hers even going to do?

she's not sure yet, but she has to do something. so she ducks through alleyways, forcing herself to keep running even as the terrible scent on the air starts to get thicker. one explosion, then another - and then one so powerful she feels it, has to cover her face from the blast wave as she shrieks. and then... nothing more. no explosions, no fighting, no quirks - just the sound of a burning city block ahead, and a sickeningly sweet, bloody smell. it's the scariest single moment of her life. she breaks into a full sprint, ducking through one more alleyway and turning out onto the street, and then-

she sees the bodies.

whatever thoughts she might have had of saving lives fly out the window. there's not much left of the corpses - pinned under rubble, charred and burnt, stinking of burnt hair and flesh. it's the smell of a burning human body, some part of her manages to put together - that sweet smell like a trash back that's started to ferment, the smell of tanned leather and iron deposits and human fat all torched together. she has to look for survivors - has to do something. it can't just end like this, can it? she sees a corpse trapped under rubble. she sees a body on the street, crackling and twitching as flesh shrinks and the water content of their body evaporates away. she sees-

she sees katsuki-kun.
]

Katsuki-kun!

[ she starts running before she's even taken in the whole scene. she doesn't have time to think about it - she has to reach him. she needs to make sure someone gets out of this alive. she takes one step, and then another, and it's halfway through her third that she finally takes in his appearance - the blood streaming from an impact wound on his head, the glass cut on his arm, the sheer and utter fury in his visage as he looks down at someone she can't quite see.

did he do this?
]

Katsuki-kun...

[ for a moment, she almost falters. her pace slows; she stumbles on one foot. and then she grits her teeth, clenches her fist, and yells out as she keeps sprinting towards him- ]

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING, DYNAMIGHT?!
