"It's interesting to me you're struggling to replicate it here. The system of magic and power is eh... finicky, is the word, is it not? There seems no real rhyme or reason for what it will cannibalize from other worlds and what it refuses to work with.

"A shame, given it seems it would be a very useful ability to handle beasts, or at least your own safety." Obviously powerful enough to change a world's path one way or another.

He nods, frankly glad to hear someone else finds the whole thing kind of baffling. "As far as I can tell it's some absurd ideas about sex being... I am not sure, sullying if not done in a specific, accepted way? I've spoken to people from worlds where even romancing someone of the same gender is so reviled they must hide it."

A sigh. "I suppose it's always something. I can hardly say my own world doesn't have it's horrifying prejudices, but it is a little unsettling to see how it seems each society strives to find something to alienate. Even this month has had the natives here being... unpleasant."
