[Makoto would have said that same thing that it didn't matter, but in all honesty she was still at the age where it did matter a bit. Where there was the hint of longing for validation and acceptance from others, that need to know that you're worth being loved. Luckily she had people like Usagi to remind her of that constantly now.]

Have a few simple dishes to fall back on is good, but you should learn at least three for each meal. And as for what I would make to impress someone, it would depend on who I was trying to impress.

If it was Usagi, it would be a cake. Something sweet with buttercream frosting. It would be really cute and decorated as well. For Rei it'd be Yam Talay since she likes spicy food or maybe Fugu if I was really feeling confident and wanted it to be really special. For Mina-chan and Vira-Lorr it would be Kaiseki. Hotaru-chan loves buckwheat noodles so that's what I would make. And Sushi-kun's favorite was the Chazuke I'd make specially for him.

It also depends on the time of day, if it were breakfast I might do something like an omelette of stuffed french toast, where as for lunch I'd make bento boxes.
