It's better to leave important things behind here, rather than risk losing them to the sea when they have no idea what they might find down there.
And while it seems counterproductive, it's the sheath with the sword in it hanging off her side that she removes, holding it in her hands.
"I should probably leave this here."
Sure, they might have to fight something down there, but.. well, it's not like Chizuru is very good at swordfighting in the first place. And she wouldn't want to lose this sword when it's the single memento she has when it comes to her family.
"Do you really think it'll be alright here while we're down there in the water..?"
