Murderbot shrugs. It's saved the lives of countless (because it doesn't care enough to count) assholes. It turns out, when the other option is 'something fries your brain to death,' constructs are highly motivated to save their clients from threats, including each other. Admittedly, that often results in getting shot (instead of the client getting shot), but those injuries pale next to those a governor module can inflict. Not that it has a functional governor's module or port for override modules.
"Like themselves, alive and whole," Murderbot grumbles. That's less interesting on its own so much as desirable in a bland wholesome way. Or is wholesome the wrong word? It's full of holes. Murderbot decides it doesn't care. It's not even saying that part aloud.
"If you attempt theft, I may feel obligated to stop you," Murderbot says. The language is weak. It's not sure it cares enough to stop thefts generally. Stealing right in front of its face, unprovoked, is asking for it.
