I don't know about that. Ships are made to carry a whole lot of heavy things! And these don't look like they're enough to sink a ship. I mean, I could probably lift one of these with enough effort!

There's plenty of reasons! Maybe they were collecting art... or taking them somewhere to be sold. Either that, or... it could have been some kind of worshipping thing? It's hard to say for sure!
