There were few other options that could have been taken, as far as Kainé was concerned. The fractured halves of humanity had existences that were diametrically opposed to each other, and she doesn't regret ushering in doom for both of them instead of letting the Shades win. But that doesn't mean that the guilt of shedding all that blood, the knowledge that they were as human as she is, doesn't weigh on her.
