"I don't think anyone can do that, at least, not always. But I think we should attempt to know."

Luz knew by now that everyone she'd met had their own story, their own way of doing things, and sometimes that way involved hurting people if they were impeding, or because it was part of the thing they were known to pursue. It didn't make it right, but it was at least a point where Luz knew she could reasonably tell them why they were different.
