Who: Akechi & Open
What: TDM Prompt (Backrooms)
When: Late August
Where: Backrooms
( a. imaginary mind )
[ Akechi is too startled to be mad, at first. He falls with a startled gasp, hits the ground with a pained wheeze, and then simply lays there for a moment, staring up at an unfamiliar ceiling. He pushes himself up, wincing, and looks around to find... nothing. Nothing but endless halls with yellowed wallpaper, yellowed carpet, and yellowed ceiling tiles.
Yeah, this is strange even by Trench's standards. He sees that there's another person there with him, but all he can manage it a baffled: ]
Where are we?
( b. imaginary lines )
[ Wherever they are, it turns out there's nothing they can do but walk.
And walk.
And walk.
It doesn't take long for the incessant buzzing to get under Akechi's skin, and not much longer after that for his pace to increase from a leisurely stroll to just short of a power walk. He wants out, no matter what it takes. Having company isn't really helping his mood.
Finally, though, there's a break in the monotony. In the gap between two corners he glimpses some sort of black marking on a far wall. He almost walks right past the intersection, so worn down and exhausted from the walk the significance almost fails to register. It finally does register at the very last second, and when it does Akechi jerks to a stop. ]
Do you see that?

She's sitting on the floor, resting her head against the wall. It's taken several spells to keep herself from having a panic attack, which is... well, never fun. But she's calm now, thinking clearly even.
She looks at him as he arrives and starts poking around. At least he seems normal.]
It's... some kind of maze, I think. Like the um, catacombs from April? But in this.... weirdly benign office building. Or pool? Something mundane at least.
[She wipes some of the sweat off her brow with the sleeve of her jacket that she then immediately cleans with a cantrip. She looks... stressed.]

Fortunately, neither of them need to worry about mind-reading - and in Akechi's mind, there are definitely worse people to be stuck here with. Even if she does appear to be barely keeping it together for the time being. It's for that reason that he decides against bringing up the other people-stealing pocket dimension he recalls encountering. If she wasn't here for the Sleeper Farm, telling her about it would only stress her out more. And if she was, reminding her would probably be worse. So what he says instead is: ]
Well, I doubt they put us here without giving us a way out. They seem to find it more interesting if there's a chance we might succeed.
[ Which is the dingiest of silver linings, at least. Even so... ]
You think you're up for exploring?
[ Akechi doesn't think they really have an alternative, but it's not lost on him that she's not doing amazingly right now. If she's in bad enough shape, letting her rest while he scouts ahead might be their best option (for reasons that are strictly practical and not at all emotional, of course). ]

I've tried looking for it with magic. Just gets... muddled and confused.
[This whole place is confusing. Strangely enough, not being alone is helping her considerably. Her relationship with Akechi is complicated but, in terms of people she'd prefer to be stuck with, he's nowhere near the bottom of the list. But still, something about this place is so... disturbing, that she'd be lying if she said she wanted to get up and continue.]
I'm okay, I think. Just gotta get out of here.
