I mean that's true, people can do whatever they want, and be whoever they want even if they couldn't back home for one reason or another.

[In her case she probably would have been considered odd for what she loved considering what the subject was and given her status at the time... Though now that she remembers more that would probably be different since her status was now no longer there.]

So I can see where you are coming from and that sometimes those who might not need nice there might be more to it than meets the eye.
