[is this one of the tradeoffs of trench? horrible beasts in exchange for batkittens and the like? maybe even the tolerance of badass unicorns? probably, though there are other, better tradeoffs. still, these kittens are top tier cute.]

Outgoing and outspoken. First time we met she basically kicked my ass with a spell.

[vi isn't embarrassed about it anymore - she'd been impressed from the jump, and compared to what some people had gone through that month she figures she got off easy. even if 'easy' still has its problems.]

Maybe I just like awkward people? [it's true.] Whatcha got for kids who aren't really kids anymore? Something fun, though.

[they are! and remarkably cuddly and social, though, Lexi had been taking them outside on their harnesses to get used to noise and people (without diving down for nom noms)]

Seriously? Yeah, I can see her doing that. She's pretty amazing with what she can do.

[and she sounds proud. her girlfriend kicks ass and Lexi loves her for it. who's with the baddest (yet nicest) chick in all of Trench? she is!]

Good because I'm incredibly awkward. [she says with a self-deprecating laugh] Oh, the books for children are all downstairs. And we do have an erotic fiction section, but no Fifty Shades of Bullshit.

Yup. It was an ice glyph. First spell I've ever been hit with, and I gotta say, it stopped me more than a punch might've.

[it's true! she'd been 100% immobile, the only thing she was still able to do was run her mouth. which luckily had been enough to snap her back to reality: still thankful for that.]

The ones you color in? I've got pencils and some crayons, but not everyone's an artist, so I'm thinkin' ...I should probably do a bit of gifting. Color the rainbow of feelings onto the printed page, y'know?

[she's so proud of Luz and what she can do, it's almost ridiculous. and it almost makes up for the fact that she hasn't been able to manifest any of her Darkblood abilities, other than under extreme duress]

Exactly! I had a few of those back home, I loved coloring in blue or green cats. And we have them right over here. [and Lexi leads her to the art section]

[puns are always welcome. and appreciated. also: it's nice to see people forming relationships here - not just the romantic kind, but those, too - even if she's too much of a mess herself to venture there. it's ...hopeful. and she's a big sap.]

Cats are good for that. [a nod to the batcat duo.] Bullshit comes in fifty shades, huh? I believe it. It's got gradients.

[it really is great to watch. this place seems like a hit, she'd been so worried that people wouldn't be interested or that word of mouth wouldn't be strong enough and she worries a lot]

They are. Cats are good for pretty much anything, aren't you babies? [and Mewnos and Nosferatmew get within face snuggling distance. and she laughs] As long as none of those fifty shades are grey, I think we're good.

I used to be more of a dog person, I think? But they won me over.

[a little whisper out of earshot (not really) of the cats.] It wasn't hard. I'm weak against cute.

Yeah. Fifty shades of grey are only good for ink, and even then there's a place for color.

Oh! Sorry, I was trying to make a joke. A very bad one about a very bad book.

Not a big deal. I don't always get all the references, but a bad book's a bad book. I mean, you run a bookstore, so I gotta take your word on that, and that the joke was probably pretty funny.

Believe me, I was referencing one of the worst books of all time. I read the first one on a dare and I could feel my IQ dropping as I did.
