Oh, always.

[ He looks back with open, wry amusement. ]

But I think I could whip us up a skeleton or two to help, if I had to.

[wapples]

Well, there's probably no cows out here.

[Billie looks up at him skeptically. He still doesn't think the skeletons are very scary at all.]

I guess if we need to, like, get out of a dance competition or something they could help? But aren't they kind of, you know, breakable?

[necrolord]

[ He gives a soft laugh, astonished at the image. Backup dancer skeletons... that's one to keep in his back pocket. ]

They absolutely could help with that.

[ But: ] Give them some credit. They're tougher than they look.

[wapples]

They're just bones, though. They don't even have any muscles or anything.

[You need muscles to be strong, everyone knows that. Come on now.]

[necrolord]

I know, right? That's the magic of necromancy. You can whip up some strong constructs, even if they're... pretty bare bones.

[wapples]

[Billie groans at the joke. That's terrible, even by his standards.

He kind of wants to fight one to see just how tough they are, but this probably isn't the time or the place for that, and he's not absolutely certain his promise to not fight God unless he's attacked first extends to his constructs as well.]

Maybe I can see them fight some day.

[He looks around. It definitely feels like something is following them.]

[ He can feel it too, but he doesn't look up. It's just another curse, some fresh trial of the week. ]

Maybe someday sooner than I'd like, at this rate. This town loves to throw curveballs.

[wapples]

Yeah. It'll be okay, though. I know how to fight too.

[It doesn't occur to Billie that the tiny nine year old knowing how to fight might not be totally reassuring.]

And I know karate!

[necrolord]

[ He quietly puts his money on the skeletons. ]

Oh yeah? We have a thriving karate community, apparently. Which one is your guy?

[wapples]

Johnny Lawrence. He's really cool, and he breaks ice with his head. Do you know karate too?

[necrolord]

[ Of course it's the worst and weirdest one. ]

I may be God, but I do not [ deadpan, mournful ] know karate. You've got me there.

[wapples]

[Billie's eyebrows lift. Seriously? He doesn't know karate? So much for God knowing everything.]

You could learn. Scentsy's a really good teacher. I learned a lot from him, plus, he's really cool.
