Yeah 'cuz I don't have shit on me. And I can hold my own but I'm no Vi.

(she's good with a few punches, better when it comes to kicking. but her real strength is with her firearms. but her body seems to lose its tension as they make their way more out of the woods.

and since maul is their walker, jinx will take this time to glance down at the compass. she twists it very slightly to check more on its craftmanship.)

(this question is more to herself than him. they woke up in the woods, found a compass, and soon they'll be out. was there a reason? is it to just find the pieces for them to have?)

Another opportunity to make us all work together here. Be thankful we didn't have to talk about our feelings in order to make it all work.

[Maul notices the bright light the compass has been using to guide them has gone out as soon as they leave the tree line and can see the city proper close by.]

It did take us where we needed to go. Now are you going to be able to get back home without falling asleep or do I have to carry you all the way?

Well! — Since we're outta the woods, I could just sleep on a bench or on the streets. Just throw me down somewhere and I can do the rest.

(is she really considering to sleep in the streets? of course she is. if jinx could live the proper life of her dreams, it would be up in the rafters or just out in the open (like the hobo that she is).

in truth, it's the reason why she moved out of the rookery mansion and build her own home. the fancy get-up with everything unnecessarily massive was just not her style or thing. too much room and air for her mind to wander into areas they don't need to go.)

You'll sleep so deeply if I set you down somewhere you won't even notice if a monster comes up and eats you.

[Maul says this in an almost cheerful tone given he's speaking with Jinx and he's gotten a measure of her personality by now. But he really wouldn't feel right about leaving her to her own devices when she's so sleepy right now.]

Do you have a home I can drop you off at?

The Cellar Door is where I'm livin' at. There's a big mansion with a tree you can't really miss. And on top of that mansion is another house built with wood. That's me!

(because of course she would be the type of person who fancies more of a home that's rundown and possibly childish-looking than a home with solid structure and rich. jinx can't seem to understand how her sister is able to stand a house like that so big and elegant.

although... vi is practically a pilitie in the making. her older sister may protest over that but jinx can see that aura about her. a woman who is will fight for justice and not for criminal acts. who will believe stealing whether from the rich or poor is wrong all around no matter the reasoning. the one who will correct those who are incorrect even when they are the ones who are wrong.

a destiny that her little sister is seeing unfolding from afar. whether back in her realm or here in trench, there's no evading that calling.)

We’re not far from a Lamp Location. We’ll get there in no time.

[Maul looks around for a moment to orient himself. He’s got a good sense of direction after being in the city for over a year, so he sets off with confident steps.]

Have you set down your Lamp Friend somewhere yet?

[Maul still hasn’t despite having the opportunity to do so since he came. He should really just make one at his home given how often he teaches people or invites them over to stay at his home for various reasons.]

Nope! Kiiinda forget they existed. They should still be in my bag back home. I guess I oughta use 'em sometime.

( but where? who knows. there's still so much of trench she hadn't explored yet. but seeing they are all stuck here until who knows when, she'll have plenty of time for that.)

You got 'em set somewhere?

Mine? No, not yet. I've been waiting for what I felt like was the right time.

[And Maul still hasn't felt in over two and a half years that it was the right time.]

Perhaps I should set it at my home. It's much safer than some other places in Trench when this place becomes as dangerous as it potentially can be.

Doesn't that also open yourself up for enemies to come waltzin' in and trash your place?

( because anyone could use those little guys, right? or perhaps. if she were to be honest, she forgotten the explanation her sister gave her about the little things. the one thing she remembers, though, is they do enjoy clothing. and they enjoy to cling. )

If an enemy manages to get past my guard pets and my brother both when they come to find me, then I deserve exactly what I have coming to me.

[Maul's a cocky bastard but his words aren't without some truth to them. He's made sure his home is one of the safest in Trench, having it guarded by deadly animals (that he lovingly spoils and cuddles with when they aren't on duty), his seven-foot-tall tank of a brother, and himself. That's a lot of firepower in one place.]
