Shouto, unaware of the extent of Mob's powers past what seems a form of telekineses, reacts on instinct but not before he takes a half second to verify it's a monster. So it is, half a second after the barrier is up a wall of ice hits from the inside and it crashes against the shimmering wall curving back in on them at a deadly pace before Shouto has a chance to switch to fire. ]
Watch out!
:) going so smoothly
(his powers are causing problems again. 70%, 75%)
he takes a step back, the shock of it all meaning several large, sharp chunks rain down before he can make the bulk of the ice wall float harmlessly above them. one hits his temple, enough to make him stagger back, blood beginning to drip down his face.
the barrier drops, the bear trying to bite against the ice mob is now holding up.]
asjhfkasfh He didn't mean for this to happen!!!
Shouto rushes to Mob's aid, eyes trained on that line of blood even as he locks in the position of the beast. Like a trained athlete he takes in everything in with a single glance, his movements born of practice as he throws out another wall of ice. This time, he doesn't manage to capture the bear but it stands behind the barrier of ice and for now that's good enough for him. ]
Can you hear me?!
[ He's at Mob's side within moments, the floating ice above them barely part of his awareness. ]
Are you hurt?
[ There's a hand at his shoulder to steady him. The monotone of his demeanor washes away to reveal a glint of worry in his eyes though his voice remains steady and calm as he takes the time to search for any signs of a concussion before the bear breaks through ice. ]
he did not and i am So Sorry shouto
[his head hurts, his vision a little wobbly but not too bad. headwounds bled a lot no matter how small, a matter he might have mentioned if his chest wasn't feeling so tight.]
I'm sorry.
[80%]
I didn't mean to-
[before he can say more the bear does manage to start really making his way through the ice. mob's powers keep flickering, answering instability for how much he feels like he shouldn't be using them at all. they just caused problems, they keep causing problems.
the paranoia that he's been dutifully repressing from the event isn't making things much better. (85%)
the bear's snout breaks through to snap at them, still mostly held back.]
Like he cares about apologies! XD
At least, when it came to medical care. He knew what to do in the heat of battle. Calm and collected, he ignores the apology. It's not important and it's something he's heard before from someone in shock. ]
I know.
He squeezes his shoulder, his face still blank but for the glint of worry in his eyes. Attuned to the cracking of ice since his quirk first manifested, Shouto knows it's been breached but still holding giving him seconds to decide how to proceed.
Don't move. I'm going to carry you.
[ Decided on a plan of action quickly and execute it, Endeavor used to tell him, but it was Aizawa who reminded him not to forget about the person he was trying to protect. Bleeding and with a possible concussion on his hands, retreat is the course of action and while he tries to put his plan into motion, his head snaps up the moment he hears the ice break. ]

(he shouldn't be using his powers. he has to use his powers. they messed things up. they're the only thing holding the bear back right now. he needs to run away, it's okay to run away but his legs aren't moving. he feels frozen in place.
90%, 91%, 92%)
he manages a small nod- not moving is something he can do. (91%, 90%) this boy with the odd colored hair seems to know what he's doing. he can trust him, right? ]
Okay.
[then the ice breaks.
the bear's entire head comes in, and it's teeth are close enough to try to dig into shouto. the crumbling remains of the wall start to fall.
(95%)
a pressure is also starting to build in the air, but that's probably the least of shouto's worries since a bear is absolutely trying to take a chunk out of him right now with very little in its way.]
I apologize for nothing.
A fight is over in a blink of an eye, Shouto.
Endeavor used to reprimand him while he choked on vomit from the punch to his solar plexus when he was still in grade school. This time, it's not a hit to his chest but a bite of his shoulder. His ice launches up from behind him to intercept the bear half a second too late.
If you haven't made your move before your opponent, then you've lost.
Shouto cries out as razor-sharp teeth graze the edge of his shoulder before his ice launches the beast off into the trees behind them giving them precious few seconds to recover.
Too slow.
Blood runs down the length of his arm dripping from his fingers as he staggers to his knees, catching himself with his good arm. ]
MENACE also 1/2 (also prob cw for panic attacks)
(96%, 97%, 98%)
that's the first thing mob really thinks as ice falls in chunks around them. blood on the ice, blood on shouto, blood on the bear's teeth. everything is too fast, too loud. his chest feels
it feels tight. too tight. like he can't breathe, like he's going to die.
(blood pooling by ritsu's head, cracks in the street)
(99%) ]
2/2
the pressure in the air is suddenly drenching everything. ice chunks around them crack further, branches begin to groan and fall. just as suddenly the ice lifts, twigs and dirt and stone, all in a circle around mob, whose eyes have gone wide and completely white, hair lifting as energy poured out all around him in
100% panic, his breath coming in great, heaving gasps. there seems to be a bubble of sorts around him and shouto now, a tight, almost suffocating little area of pressure, the same shielding of before returning but this time almost thorny, like the barrier is barbing itself to keep anything out. if shouto tries to leave it the pressure will get stronger, try to pull him in, frantic and too wild not to potentially make his injury worse.
everything around the bubble though? gets blown away. the creatures before just lifted and shattered against trees in unpleasant, wet cracks, several trees themselves tearing out of the ground and being flung away. the bear creature gets absolutely launched, hitting several trees as it goes. the entire area around them is basically stripped bare, nothing allowed to get close to the little bubble.
and mob in it, hands clutching the sides of his head, barely able to keep from hunching in on himself in a protective ball. panic attacks are kind of a lot when you're this kid, huh.]
I forgot about bloody Ritsu PTSD!!!! asdfiklj;dsfhdsf Also, I don't know how it turned out this way!
Untrained.
This is why Heroes are licensed. Why they're the only ones permitted to use their quirks in the defense of others. Why they train for years. Take on apprenticeships with other heroes before they ever step onto the center stage because untrained their quirks cause more harm than good. And as Shouto looks on at the destruction beyond the barrier, dread starts to seep in at the realization that he can't see them.
The bear. The beasts locked inside his ice. Safe until...
Where are they?! ]
Stop it!
[ He ignores the bloody warnings of that wild presence forcing him still and launches himself at Mob. ]
Stop it!
this isn't unlike the accidental kettle triggering thread only a total mess, i love it
he doesn't quite hear the first words, but the second break through. stop? it's so hard to breath, he wants to stop but his mind whirls and his body is refusing to budge beyond grasping at his own hair.
if shouto touches mob he probably gets a taste of the panic mob is feeling, the kind of clawing in the chest, frantic scrambling. even if he doesn't mob manages to lift his gaze to stare at shouto (bleeding still, he's bleeding) as he struggles to get words out. still so wrapped up in energy it's hard to make out his features.]
I- I can't-
[he hasn't changed at all. but shouto is bleeding, and when his eyes focus on that this time it's more of a lifeline. shouto's bleeding, he needs to stop. they need to get shouto help. nothing else matters.
so the pressure starts to lessen, a little. a good start?]
apologies for the absolutely late tag!
Shouto freezes over, his entire body going ice cold to numb the pain. It allows him to continue even if his movements begin to slow. He reaches Mob's side, and yells as loud as he can for him to stop because he knows. Knows, like any other hero with a strong quirk, he's lost control. Mob's answer further confirms this and despite the growing numbness, he makes sure to stay there with him. ]
Let go.
[ He knows from experience. The number of times he lit himself on fire to test his limits to appease his father, Shouto knows. Knows the relief that comes with letting go. Control wasn't part of the equation that's why Endeavor built a fireproof room to test his youngest. ]
You just have to let go.
[ He reaches for him and gets a blast full of panic sweeping through him with just a touch. It sends him staggering back, breath coming out in white puffs of artic cold. Was that... his paleblood powers?! ]
Are you... scared?
[ He stares in shock, feeling like he's uncovered an unexpected trove of knowledge. ]
