That's good to hear.

[ Sure, 'not as bad as it could have been' might have been a bad thing back home, but by the standards of Trench? Daniel thinks that's already good enough. He hopes it means she hasn't gone through anything really bad.

And there's so many different types of really bad things to go through in this place. He's well aware of that. ]

You didn't get caught up in anything too bad? Or did you, and you just managed to get out of it?

[ It's not like he can't see potential in Clarke. And Daniel knows from experience that young people can sometimes be craftier when it comes to that sort of stuff than anyone would give them credit for. ]

It was definitely the former— [she had been helping out people here and there who needed it but she had been fairly lucky in that aspect. ironically with the bad luck going around, she is sure that it'll catch up to her at some point] How about you?

[ Daniel lets out a huff of breath. ]

Ah, well..

[ .. he's definitely thinking about all the dangerous stuff he got caught up in, and the few times he came really, really close to dying.

But there's no way Daniel of all people is going to bother someone so young with that, let alone one of his students. The last thing he'd ever want to do is make anyone worry about him. ]

I made it through everything alright. [ He makes sure to smile as he says it, trying to look as reassuring as possible. ] We just have to resourceful here, right? That's how we stay safe.
