I don't have family here, no. Or any friends where I'm from, either.

But I don't live alone. I live with two brothers a few years younger than me and an adult woman.

They've all been very kind. [For a moment or two he looks almost wistful.] When we eat dinner together it reminds me of those old family dinners. [A pause.]

But we haven't had steak yet.
