Wait For Me; backdated to the end of January

A month since Chrollo washed up from the sea, it was time for more Sleepers to come ashore. He had no interest in helping any wayward soul who happened to need a hand, so he lingered further back and let those with an interest in such things greet new arrivals.

The only people Chrollo cared to see were his own. If one of the Troupe washed ashore, he didn't want to miss their arrival. There was also a chance that a squid could take on a less than friendly face. Being unable to permanently kill them was a hindrance, but knowing sooner rather than later would still be better.

Wrapped up to wait out the cold, Chrollo watched, and waited. The sudden feeling of stiffness was a surprise, there was no obvious source of it. Soon, he couldn't move at all. There was no apparent source of danger, as the twelve legged spider omen on his shoulder remained small but visibly agitated. It looked like he'd be waiting longer than expected.

You Take My Breath Away

After the past month, Chrollo was becoming accustomed to the sudden onset of effects with no obvious source. Suddenly being unable to breathe was still surprising enough that Chrollo reached up to his throat to reassure himself there was nothing around his neck. Even though he hadn't anticipated holding his breath, he still had at least a few minutes before the situation was going to become desperate.

A nearby commotion made it obvious he wasn't the only one struggling, and as soon as he caught sight of someone else visibly struggling to breathe he was hit with a sudden need to reach that person.

As far as coercive abilities went, Chrollo didn't have much experience with being on the receiving end of them. But he didn't have many options, and the only risk was to himself. Without giving it more thought than that, Chrollo made his way over and reached out.

Speed Dating

Chrollo Lucilfer, emotionally unavailable and married to his work. He enjoys reading, acquiring antiques (especially books), spending time with his friends, and exploring the darkness in other people's souls.

Chrollo has never done regular dating, much less the 'fast' variety where you're given only a few moments to get to know someone. As far as ordeals go, he's had a much milder time with this month than the previous one even with his odd run of bad luck.

He knows the motions to go through well enough, he's met people and 'hit it off' to get close to them when a situation required it and he's stolen more than one priceless artifact or ability that way.

"It varies. I don't like romance, or movies that feature excessive torture just for the sake of it or slasher films. Dramas or docudramas aren't usually something I enjoy either. Something worth paying attention to for the entire length of the movie. Do you mean a movie night at the Entertainment Feed? It's a good place to relax."

Of the options for reducing corruption, Chrollo finds going there to be his favorite so far.

"No torture porn or romance, looks like we're on the same page in that regard," she's seen a lot of romance films thanks to Falco. Some of them weren't terrible but most weren't something she'd want to watch again, "But no slashers?" A fake gasp, "Some of those are fun as hell."

Sure, a lot of them tend to be formulaic and predictable but there's fun in that. Scream is her favorite.

"And no, not the Entertainment Feed," not that there's anything wrong with the place but, "I prefer movies in the comfort of my own home."

"I've encountered a few too many people who could easily star as the killer in slasher films, with abilities similar to my own. Seeing their trophies, or the photos or videos they kept, really ruins the genre," Chrollo says blandly. The infrastructure they made in Meteor City to attract criminal internet traffic worked very well, but it does mean they had to sort through a lot of awful things to find the people they were after.

"Inviting me back to your place for movies? Maybe speed dating really does work."

When he explains it like that, it's easier to understand why he might not care for the genre. She wouldn't enjoy films that touched upon too familiar subjects. The next statement has her stopping in her tracks, cheeks immediately hot, "I invite everyone I like to my place for movies," said with a groan before she continues after him, "Don't make me revoke the invite!"

A few teasing responses cross Chrollo's mind, but he lets the moment pass without using them and just nods in acknowledgement instead. Her reaction with the way her face is flushing is just a little too strong for him to continue with that banter.

"I have plans at the casino for most of the month, so perhaps next month? Movie night during the day just doesn't seem as fun," Chrollo says.

"A gambler, huh?" She hadn't pegged him as one but... Chrollo is a tough cookie to read and it's hard to tell where his interests lie, "But, yeah, sure. Next month is fine as long as shit doesn't get too fucked."

Some months have been worse than others after all.

"It's easy if you have the skills, and I've played a lot of cards when there's been nothing better to do," Chrollo. Poker isn't a common game among the Troupe because carrying chips and cards around is a lot more complicated than just carrying cards, but it's something.

"The only card game I really know is Go Fish and Solitaire so..." she does not have the skills to gamble and win (though she'll certainly learn the games by the end of March), "You have fun with that shit and be careful you don't get addicted."

"I usually play a game called cheat. It's a good way to pass the time and can take any number of players above three," Chrollo says. It's oddly one of the few card games that doesn't get too contentious or spark arguments.

"Cheat, huh?" She turns to walk backward as they move to better face him, "I'll let you teach me sometime if you ever find a third you'd want to play with."
