[ Ever since Daniel got hit by that slab of concrete, there's been nothing. Not even dreams, just-- a lack of anything at all. The man may have been out for hours upon hours into the very early - or late, depending on how you look at it - hours of the next day, but when there's suddenly something it feels like no time has passed at all to Daniel's brain.

Not that said brain remembers very clearly what's supposed to be going on. Opening his eyes feels hard, and he's not sure why. His body, too, feels heavy, like he's completely unable to move it. It's like someone suddenly dialed the force of gravity up to eleven, and Daniel feels completely stuck in the position he's in right now, unable to move anything. He feels so heavy. He feels so-- it hurts. It hurts so bad, and for a moment it almost feels like he's seventeen and lying on the mat of a karate tournament, except everything is too quiet and he can't hear mister Miyagi calling his name, so that's not it.

No, there is someone calling his name. Not mister Miyagi, but someone else familiar. It takes a moment for his brain to make the connection, his eyes still closed, but then the realisation of whose voice that is hits Daniel like a truck. Robby. That's right-- Robby. He was trying to think about Robby. He's in his fifties, and he's-- in bed, he thinks, since he can vaguely feel the texture of a blanket somewhere at the edges of pain. And Robby's there.

That last part feels more right than anything else as Daniel tries to recall how he got here in the first place. He remembers Robby. A frantic desire to protect the boy, he remembers that too.

.. protect him from what, though? Daniel's mind feels so foggy, and thinking through the pain that shoots through him with each passing moment feels too difficult.

Instead he decides to move his efforts towards attempting to open his eyes instead. It feels much harder than it ought to be, but slowly his eyes do open, revealing.. mostly darkness, which isn't too helpful.

His eyes fall shut again, with how hard it is to keep them open, but he does force them open again. Forces his sight to adjust to the darkness around him, trying to find Robby, only to realise the boy is already right there, Daniel's body too numb and yet hurt all at the same time to even properly register the way the boy is nudging him.

He mostly just hears him. Calling out Daniel's name, and-- and something else, something that only registers with a part of Daniel's mind right now, ready to think about and process later when thinking doesn't feel like it's so hard.

.. Robby is saying so much more though. He doesn't know if it's because he himself is feeling so weird, but the rest of it all seems to make so little sense.

How out of it is Daniel right now..? And there's someone else he's trying to remember too, someone who should be there-- who is it..?

He's so tired, and he lets out a small, exhausted breath as he tries to regain enough sensation in his throat and mouth to speak. ]

Robby...

[ The name is said so softly, little more than a whisper or a breath that carries the name, but it's still audibly escaping the man. ]
