Everything in the universe had come to a halt. (Book Club)

This month, the book club meets Tuesdays March 14th and 28th. It is reading The Girl Who Grew Nasty Things by Will Mara, available via written or audio formats.

Maddie Dragonette doesn't like people. A loner, she prefers to be among the rare plants she grows in her greenhouse, plants that can cause great pain. When Maddie doesn't get a part in the school play, her anger grows as wild as her nasty plants. What happens when anger and hate grow out of control?

How do you handle anger and hate? What manifests them? Are those manifestations themselves evil? Are the plants in Trench evil, sick, a natural part of the cycle?

Trench's 11… (Silent Disco)

This month, the silent disco happens Fridays March 3rd, 17th, and 31st. Headphones and music are available. Play your own music or listen to DJ's mix. (open)

Each night you will hear a mix of music from soundtracks of Ocean's 11 movies and other casino heist movies. Murderbot may mix in some other general casino and heist music to keep it fun.

They say taupe is very soothing. (Movie viewings)

2. March 9th: Ocean's 13 | Ocean's 8

Stuff-A-Squid. (Kid's Corner)

Children's programming includes building your own stuffed animal this month.

Children's programming is now an ongoing part of The Entertainment Feed. Children may come to the Kid's Corner at any time this month and build a stuffed animal of their choice. Options include squid, deer, bear, dog, raven, and trout. Other animals can also be made. Little clothes are also available to dress your stuffed animal. Murderbot thanks Sansa for helping prepare the unstuffed animals and little clothes.

We listen with more than our ears. (Docu-Lore)

Murderbot has started filming events in Trench via its drones.

Perhaps a drone sees you acting weirdly. Perhaps one accompanies you to the new city or alternate world. Contribute to the video collection of lore for Trench! (Can be arranged ICly or OOCly)

Sarah actually smiles more broadly for a second at the idea of not shaking hands, before forcing the expression away in a way that ... would manage to not be blatant to a human. She's faster with it than most people, hiding her initial emotional reaction, but for who she's talking to now? No chance. Rin definitely noticed, but Sarah doesn't know that.

"No problem. It's a really weird custom, anyway." And people who shake hands with her shove their thoughts through her palms sometimes. "Makes sense other cultures don't do it, I should remind myself I don't have to. I'm ... not sure if he watched them, exactly, or just sort of processed them all at once? I suspect it means he missed a chance to appreciate the funny parts, though."

In some reality, maybe Moss King is dropping in and watching!

It continues to not be this one.

"You're running this whole place alone, yes? That has got to be a lot of work. Thank you for the service to the community. And showing one of my top five when I was having a bad day."

Sometimes with their hands, Sarah does not say, even though she thinks it: that would be cruel on so many levels, even some to herself. She didn't even want to think it.

"It's a good theme—must be why Moss King's month is my birth month. I'm sure it actually isn't, but it would be nice to imagine that it all came back to heist flicks." Not that she'd encountered those before she was about twenty! But she finds them one of the better things about experiencing a wider world than her upbringing.

"The ... whole thing? I would feel like I was taking advantage if I didn't pay for that somehow—I don't suppose that you need fresh fruit supplied though."

"Exactly my thought—used to work in a bookstore," Sarah clarifies, to give credence to the fact that she really does understand that particular concern. "But most of what I make would. Fruits, candles, lotions ... I'll think on that." She's good at quilting, too, but doesn't have the materials to make movie poster themed quilts handy, for instance.

"On second thought, I'll think on both of those, because if there aren't childrens' stories about it already there should be, and someone needs an idea to pitch to an author." Where does one find a Trench author, anyway? An open network post? Are there non-Sleeper native authors putting out the local version of Eric Carle stories about the pthumerians? "Moss King would suggest drawing lots, Never Mind would suggest logic, Argonaut feats of strength, I think—there's a story with a moral about using everyone's different skills and teamwork, in there."

Blood probably should have occurred to Sarah, but her focus was similar: on making a usable donation, and she can bake, but she can't bake at what would be an appropriate enough capacity. The fruit is easier, the candles would be easier, and yet apparently now what she's doing is donating a book.

At least that's something she can laugh at, and the suggestion is something that she does laugh at—it's one bark of laughter but it's relaxed and happy, not tinged with foreboding as Trench often inspires. "Oh no, I did walk right into that, didn't I. I used to tell my little siblings stories, I can manage. Though I'll be doing a lot of research, I guess! Coming back here tomorrow to read up on popular styles of childrens' writing."

It's not that she never says no to a challenge so much as that this one sounds fun.
