(open) you're looking at me like you don't know who i am
Who: Ange, Ruby, Break, and anyone who knows any of them.
What: Corruption turned Ange into a true Umineko witch who decided the best way to keep the people she loves safe from this town is to drag them into a pocket dimension.
When: For a while in March.
Where: Ange and Ruby's house-turned-small-pocket-dimension.
Content Warnings: Potential violence if anyone acts particularly antagonistic. Potential talk of violence or gore. Other warnings will be added when things pop up.

Perhaps you have seen Ruby's odd network post and decided to check things out. Or maybe you're just wandering around Trench and notice that Ange and Ruby's house suddenly looks.. different.
The house has been completely overgrown by way oversized roses, big thorns growing out of all the stems, completely obscuring the structure that's supposed to be underneath it. If you get close enough to the cluster of roses, you may feel your connection to any of the three people inside suddenly pull you in. (Please note: only people who know either Ange, Ruby or Break will be able to enter the pocket dimension because of this!)
If you give in to the sensation, everything around you might go black, and when the light returns, you seem to find yourself in.. a hedge maze. A rather odd one, though. As you stumble through it, you may suddenly find yourself in random rooms, and then back out of them into the hedge maze once more. The Moss King's wild plants seem to have even invaded corners of this place, so you might want to watch out you avoid having those snap at you. Retracing your steps through the labyrinth feels impossible, like the way is changing up behind you with every step. Some rooms make perfect sense - like a neat and elaborate kitchen, or a library - and others seem to consist of nonsense with stairs leading upside down or to nowhere, or gravity not working in a specific room at all.
Flying throughout the entire maze are golden butterflies. They seem to fly with direction, and if you follow them, you might find them leading you to one of the people you were looking for..

Oscar knew that he was at least safe... as long as he didn't push his limits.]
They know the people they love, [he said uncertainly,] And they know that they would do anything to keep those people safe. That's definitely a core part of who the both of them are.

[At this point in the proceedings, this is the first direction Break always steers the conversation to. Nobody's going to get through to Ange in her current state by trying to convince her that her love is wrong. She's lost so much in the past and had to suffer for so many years to move forward despite those scars that the notion of anyone telling her that the depth of her love is a wicked thing just seems too cruel.
This is a massive amount of hypocrisy on Break's part, given that he's told himself exactly that about similar griefs for most of Ange's lifetime. However, as is his wont, Break is carefully ignoring this.]
I think we can all agree that the world outside of this one is certainly not safe. So, then, when one is a young witch strong enough to build a new place and have done with it, the question becomes: Why not?
[When everyone precious to you was slaughtered behind your back in the span of an afternoon, and a Chain comes to you with an offer as you stand helplessly before their graves, the question becomes -- ]

[Oscar shuffled, feeling for a moment like he was talking to the Curious Cat. The answers were all there, but he had no idea if this was the Uncle Break that he knew or an Uncle Break that had become a part of the Garden.]
...I guess it comes to choices. It's hard for anyone to stay in a place that they didn't choose for themselves.

[Break asks this with a reasonable shrug. So, there's Oscar's confirmation that he, at least, is here entirely on purpose.]
As for Miss Ruby having tossed you into a guest room, if I were you, I'd take it as a compliment. Some part of her remembers that she wants you around too much to kill you.

[He had hoped that part of Ruby would always be intact in some form. Her desire to take care of her people was a core part of who she was. However--
Stepping forward a little, Oscar patted Diggs on the head and scooped the little deer up into his arms. Encouraged by Break's words, he looked up with caution but earnest curiosity.]
Are you... the Mad Hatter? Or, Uncle Break?
no subject
Oscar. I hate to have to tell you this, but your Uncle Break is the Mad Hatter.
[He says this gently. Then, he holds a finger up to his mouth, inviting the boy into his current conspiracy.]
However, the answer to your real question is -- my role here is to assist Miss Ange, and Miss Ruby in turn. I intend to play that role, even if there are some disagreements regarding what sort of assistance they need. This is an uncle's important duty, you know?

[Diggs nudged at him with a soft nose, perhaps knowing something different. Despite being a reader, Oscar had yet to read the Oz books.
He had no idea about Tippetarius, nor how the farm boy was also the whimsical, ageless, and magical Princess Ozma. This was.... Perhaps a benefit. ]
If you can be both at once, then I should be, too.
[He made a face, brows furrowed in concentration and worry as he took another step closer. ]
Mister Mad Hatter. Uncle Break. How do we help the Golden Witch without breaking her heart?
no subject
We don't, I'm afraid. A perfect, idealistic life -- to lose such a thing is to mourn it, no matter how impossible it always was.
[Break went to hell and back for a life like that once, and it wasn't even a life he had any real intention of being part of. He was certain he'd die in the doing. And he mourned. The life he might have had if he survived his own story -- it couldn't happen, and he's mourned that, too. It's just how it is.]
But to toss around such sentiments as "this is wrong" and so on, it can't do any good for someone in the throes of this sort of feeling. To drag her back into what she wishes to escape is a cruelty she won't accept. But a hand that will reach for hers, and a voice that will say, "I will walk forward with you, to help you make something we can love"...
no subject
It's like holding a little kids hand and walking with them into the scary woods instead of getting mad at them for not going alone,
[He said quietly, reaching for metaphor and story when at a loss. Such descriptions where how he had learned to handle his own fears-- and how he had already brought someone else back from the brink.]
I think I understand. Judgements and violence broke the catboxes that messed up her family, right? I mean, if the Ushiromiya witches are anything like anyone else that uses magic.
