The first full day in Trench is spent planted solidly in a bed in the Sanguine Station Inn and quite frankly no one can blame Break for this. His death was neither short nor painless, his arrival involved getting smashed vigorously against a bunch of very large and sharp rocks by an ocean he's pretty sure had it out for him personally, and several emotional upheavals in rapid succession have his mind feeling just as battered. The second day is not much better, but he does spend at least a fair portion of it awake, which he does not enjoy. On the third day he peels himself out of bed properly and disappears to annoy the kitchen staff, and when Break returns to the room, he is waving around a map he cannot actually see which one of the cooks helpfully drew for him.

"Hey, hey, I've found a lead on a house we might have for ourselves," he announces. "Shall we go and investigate it now? It'll be better if we have a place of our own as soon as possible, you know?"

The Alices have yet to join them here, which has Break somewhat concerned, but their absence doesn't erase the fact that he made one of them a promise when they met on the beach that first day. Having devoted a solid fifteen years of his life to his promise to her sister, he's not about to slack for too long on this new one.
