Baltus, of course, is a reflection of Break. And Break, of course, has never had any problem casually mowing down whatever poor sucker happened to be in his way at any given time, up to and including random lesser colleagues innocently roaming the halls of his workplace. It turns out it's a lot more mortifying when your personal soul creature does it instead of you, and that Break's only context for what just happened is the sounds of many things falling to the ground -- including a brat, apparently -- just makes it worse. He scuttles over in a hurry but slows down abruptly when he gets close, not wanting to inadvertently step on anything that fell.

"Ah, I'm dreadfully sorry about that, he's been in such a state all week long -- I'm told this phenomenon is called 'the zoomies.'"

It's both of them. Both of them are in a state and have the zoomies. Break is simply much more practiced at holding back until he can whack things with a sword at his leisure and having to chase his omen everywhere is taking the edge off, so the annoying buzz of energy through his own veins isn't bothering him so much. Baltus is having a great time, really playing up the snuffling in the hopes of getting more giggles, because giggling kids are great and everyone needs more of that in life. But Break extends a hand in the general direction of the laughter, to help the poor kid up.
