[Reaper had taken his time with recovery, which left him trapped in his room for a few days. When it seemed that he could get around without having long episodes of shortness of breath, he appeared more downstairs. That's where he happened to be, settled into a chair with the other occupants of the house.

He knew they had questions, knew that most of them would have to do with Lance's outburst on the network. That wasn't the kid's fault; they didn't always control their Omens. And Lance had been circling the drain for years now, barely holding on. Not the kid's fault. For as long as he had known Lance, the kid had been teetering on the edge of a mental crisis.

However, this wasn't about Lance right now. This was about the household where he resided, and many of the youngsters who lived in it. As the eldest, he knew that his position here was the most tenuous.

So Reaper sat quietly, one ankle crossed over his other knee. He remained in comfortable black clothing, and while situations like these usually had him wearing his mask, he had decided against it. Instead, his scarred face was bare, though he kept his hood up to cover most of his white hair. His gloved hands were folded in his lap, thumbs clasping the mask that he would normally wear. Instead, it lightly tapped against his thigh.]

So, I suppose we should call this meeting to order, hmm?

Aw! Is he special to you, this Mytho?

[danserai]

S-S-Special?! Oh, no, no. I mean, he's very pretty and nice and he's a great dancer, but I wouldn't say he's special to me, he's special to everyone, I'm just lucky he talks to me, ehehe . . .

Those are a lot of adjectives, Ahiru! You sound like you have a little crush!

Aw, don't say that! You're pretty great too, you know!

You say that, but he's a prince . . . I'm just a girl.

[ not even that, really. ]

A-Anyway, everyone likes Mytho! It's nothing special!

An awesome girl! Come on, don't sell yourself short! You're pretty special!

[Look, Luz just knows these things, ok]?

I'll take your word for it. He sounds like a popular guy. Good thing that Fakir guy is looking out for him.

[danserai]

[ ahiru just gives a nervous laugh, haha, special . . . her . . . ]

Yeah. They take good care of each other.

[All of Luz's friends were special to her].

Well he can take care of him back in that world, and we can take care of each other in this one.

[danserai]

Mm. I'm sure he's doing a good job.

[ she shouldn't need to worry that much. fakir can write the story. save mytho. if anyone can do it, it's fakir. after all, he saved her. ]

Right, and besides, we need to get focused on YOU getting settled in now anyway, right?

[danserai]

Don't worry, it won't take long. I have very little on me.

[imaglyphwitch]

Right, so about that.

You know we can get you actual things for your room, right? So it feels more like home for you?

[danserai]

[ ahiru looks at her blankly. ]

Actual things?

Um, yes. You know, toys, clothes, furnishings! STUFF!

[danserai]

And I should . . . get those things?

[ clothes she can understand but toys? furnishings??? ]

You don't have to, but don't you want to personalize your room? For Luca, I painted a nice background for him, and for me, I went with a sprawling witch-slash-outdoorsy motif!

So what would you want your ideal room to look like?

[danserai]

. . . I don't know. I guess I never thought about it before.

[ she had her little attic. a bed. her lamp and her pillow. what more could she want? ]

Really? So how, I mean, what was your old room back home like?

[danserai]

I mean, it was just a room? I didn't spend a lot of time there. It had a bed, some pillows and my clothes.

And . . . that's all?

[imaglyphwitch]

[Well now you're just horrifying Luz on purpose].

T-that's it? Just a bed, pillows and clothes? No paintings, or stuffed animals, or books? Just...a room?

[danserai]

. . . Yes?

[imaglyphwitch]

I don't understand that at all. Were your parents Mormon? Were you not allowed to have anything but clothes and a bed in your room?

[danserai]

[ ah. now ahiru gets it somewhat. she offers luz a reassuring smile. ]

I don't have any parents. And it was fine because I didn't spend a lot of time in my room. I had my friends, my school and my town. So I was happy.

[imaglyphwitch]

What?!

How do you not have any parents? I mean, who cooks for you? Who gives you your clothes? Who pays for the place you live in? Where I'm from, parents do all that stuff!

[danserai]

We all live in the school so it's easier to go to class. It's pretty common! And we do have mess halls and places to eat.

So I guess the school takes care of me?

[ and edel and drosselmeyer for pulling the strings behind the scenes. she's struggling a bit without them handwaving these details for her. ]

I guess, but I'd still want to have my own room with it's own effects. I'd need to make it personal.

So it's like a boarding school then?
