Luz knew a little bit about history and knew that downfalls usually started with people burning down knowledge and getting rid of the people it deemed unfit to live in the society. She also understood she fell under several of those categories of being ill desired. That was honestly a pretty sobering thing to think about.
She could see Mayerling was still taking stock of all the life he'd lived, and wondered what he thought of this world.
"Right, my time is farther into the future. We still send letters, but its looked at as archaic now."
Luz nodded. She'd kept an ear open in libraries, and knew that even as a high school student, you were going to have to learn how to properly document things and make sure it was true.
Luz was fearful, and rightfully so, of a future where you could just say anything and have it seem true by a vast group of people.
"I can imagine. Vampires seeing human as prey would mean they would always be at odds trying to kill the other. No one would learn anything, and we'd just spend time being at each other's throats."
As for Luz, she strove to be open minded. The last time she ran into a vampire had ended with her losing quite a lot of blood and near death, but she also understood that was more out of desperation and fear.
"I agree with that. Even prey aren't above making themselves monsters if it means keeping the people they consider their enemies fearful of them."
Well now I HAVE to know. There are a lot of cringey moments!
