Love is not enough to make him oversee it because love itself is not always good. He knows his father loved his mother, and that kind of selfish love isn't anything he ever wants to be a part of. Allen may profess they're nothing like his parents, but little moments like these where he has no idea of what happened or how he triggered him enough to make him slap his hands away, make Shouto think that maybe that's not true. Maybe they're both too inexperienced to realize it is like his parents. For now, he shoves that feeling down, freezing it in place to focus on the battle ahead exactly as he's been trained.
