[By this point Anakin is looking like a textbook example of what advanced corruption looks like. Fanged teeth, fever and glassy, bloodshot eyes and an unwillingness to seek treatment has most of the locals giving him a wide berth. He's already drawn his lightsaber against quite a few people who had tried to assist him.

Perhaps your character is minding their own business or perhaps they’re keeping a wary eye on a clearly volatile young man. Regardless Anakin will notice them for whatever reason.]

[The next person that tries to convince him to seek help hangs suspended in the air as they try to grapple with the invisible force holding them by the throat.]

Do I look like I need help?

[Slowly Anakin increases the pressure and their eyes bulge before they catch another character’s eyes, one hand leaving their neck to frantically gesture for help.

Otherwise use i. or make up your own prompt! This is mostly so I know who doesn't mind things escalating.]

[Anakin had been hard to locate last month with his bloodtype allowing him to seemingly vanish into thin air, but the new month had removed that advantage and it was only a matter of time before he ran into his old master.]

You look tired.

[He looks worse, but he feels better than he has in a long time. Releasing the weight of his previous indecision having a greater impact than the effects of corruption. He draws his lightsaber, revealing the red blade as he points it against Obi-Wan.]

Last chance to walk away.

[It takes a while for recognition to settle in. Flynn feels so long ago and Yuri's anger even more so due to how little importance the whole thing was to him. Anakin had far greater concerns than the death of some stranger.]

Do I look like I care?

[vibing]

[ Yuri shrugs a shoulder, a hand propped on his hip, the image of a guy who doesn't care. Goading Anakin is a terrible idea. He shouldn't be doing it, but... well. He likes to do things he shouldn't, sometimes. ]

Thought you should know. Y'know, in case you're trying to impress somebody or something.

[Anakin is incredibly easy to rile up, but that also means it doesn't take much for him to lash out.]

Like who? Your friend? Thought I already did.

[vibing]

[ The smile doesn't leave Yuri's face, but it grows icy. He keeps his voice deceptively casual, anger coiling in his gut, hotter and more powerful that it normally would be. He hates this guy, really hates him. He isn't going to kill him, that would be a waste, but he might as well see what happens ]

Yeah, man, Flynn isn't really impressed by shit like that. You'll have to try harder.

[All Anakin sees is how unflappable he seems to be and it makes him want to try harder to see any crack.]

Was that his name? I'd already forgotten it. You guys aren't that important after all.

[vibing]

[ Bold, Anakin. Yuri watches him impassively, even as he's seething inside. It'll give him more satisfaction to piss this guy off than to attack him (and Flynn would be so pissed if he got hurt because of Anakin) ]

Not sure anyone's all that important.

Say whatever you want if it makes you feel better.

[His anger needed to be restrained and honed for later. Anakin would not lose control over someone like this. It had to mean something for Yuri to approach him first despite how unfeeling he seems to be.]

It's not like there's anything better for you.

[vibing]

[ Yuri laughs, loud and short, fingers tightening on the strap wrapped around his sword sheath.

Don't do it, don't attack him, Flynn wouldn't forgive you for getting killed, but he sure as hell wants to.

Instead, taking all of his self-control, he turns his back on Anakin, waving a hand lazily in the air ]

Whatever, man.

[ He wants to say more, but even he doesn't know what. "Better" doesn't mean very much. He never expects better, not for himself. He takes what he gets, and finds what he needs, and makes his way through life. In his mind, no one really deserves anything. Either they make it happen, or they don't. ]

[He watches Yuri reach for his sword and visibly hold himself back with a vindictive pleasure. Finally he's gotten the reaction he wanted. Even if Yuri now pivots away and tries to pretend otherwise, there was no taking it back. The facade had been broken.]

Giving up already?

[Anakin's curious if he can make Yuri's control snap. He doesn't know why he's trying so hard to keep his cool. Maybe it was just self-preservation at work.]

[vibing]

[ Yuri scoffs, fingers clenching again, but he keeps moving. A strange calm settles over him, a calm that makes Anakin's words slough off him like water.

Sometimes giving up is the better thing to do. Giving up gives him the chance to go home to Flynn, a Flynn who's still alive, even though he made the mistake of fighting this guy. He gave up, too, and Anakin didn't let him, and Yuri remembers that, remembers it intently, that Anakin didn't stop when Flynn surrendered. A guy like that? Not really worth his time, when he can't kill him for good.

Maybe there's something to taking the higher ground ]
