Maul nods as Wesker gives him messages to pass along. He can do that much for the man who has become a good friend to him over the long months they've spent in both towns together.
"I shall tell them what happened to you." With any luck, I'll see you soon old friend." Then Maul tightens his grip and snaps his neck in one quick movement, so fast that there is almost no pain attached. Just because he's a sadistic killer doesn't mean he can't kill someone in a way that includes no agony. He just so often chooses to make his victims feel it because that's just the way Maul likes his kills, full of spectacle, flash, and plenty of suffering for his victims to feel.
Maul closes Wesker's eyes gently and then leaves the room. He feels almost nothing about the actual act of killing itself. He was made to be a weapon and weapons don't have feelings about the lives they end. But the part of him that can still feel something is angry more than anything else, furious that the zealots who had captured Wesker had prolonged his suffering for their own selfish ends instead of just ending things for him. That would have been the right way to do things. They've just permanently become Enemies to Maul with a capital 'E'.
