[He retrieves a towel hanging on the wall...and extends it to Obi-Wan.]

Thank you. [Vyng's words are quiet.] It's been a long time since I've met anybody I could talk to. About things of a spiritual nature.

[jedies]

[ obi-wan offers up a polite bow. ]

It has been the same for me.

[spiritwalks]

Yeah? I guess that's not surprising...

[Most Sleepers just don't have a frame of reference for it. Even Tuck, his best friend, considers Vyng's ways to be strange and confusing. It doesn't bother him — he's been the weirdo everywhere he goes — but Vyng is still glad for Obi-Wan's perspective.]

[jedies]

People don't seem to care all that much for it. Which is a shame.

[spiritwalks]

Not everyone has the patience for it. Or they've got other priorities in a literal bloodbath like Trench. Can't say I blame 'em.

[Unlike Tuck or Billie, Vyng seldom worries where his next meal will come from. Or whether he'll live to see another day. Nature provides, and he'll die whenever it's his time to go. But for orphans who've spent their whole lives fighting for survival, the world's a scary place. It can be hard to find comfort in that.]

[jedies]

Yes, I suppose upbringings make all the difference.

[ he would never judge anyone for it, but he does miss the comforting, spiritual connection of the jedi and like-minded people. ]

[spiritwalks]

People change. If they've got a reason to. You're right, though, upbringing can affect someone's priorities.

[Plenty of folks don't find Druidism until they're adults. But he gets why it wouldn't be someone's go-to in a poisonous, gloomy place like Deer Country.

In any case, he's grateful to have met Obi-Wan.]

By the way, I meant to ask you — did you do something? [Vyng starts wringing his own hair out over the tub.] ...Earlier. When I was remembering.

[jedies]

Did something?

[ obi-wan's brow furrows together briefly. ]

I reached out with the Force, if that's what you mean.

[spiritwalks]

Reached out... [Vyng echoes Obi-Wan's words thoughtfully. Of course, he filters them through his own particular lens:] For my essence?

[jedies]

Yes, I suppose you could say that. We're all connected in the Force so I tapped into that connection to ground you.

[spiritwalks]

I heard you. And then there was this, this...shift. Inside my mind. That was you reaching for my essence? And, like, redirecting my energy?

[jedies]

[ obi-wan considers this, trying to frame it in his own context. ]

It may have been. The Force — Or at least the way the Jedi use the Force means we can suggest and support. Help. But we cannot make decisions on your behalf.

[spiritwalks]

[Vyng can reach out to flora, fauna and the elements. He can try to reason with them, try to restore calm by offering something it wants. But nothing like that. Not yet, at least. And definitely not with people...]

It helped. [His response is quiet, but sincere.] ...Thank you.

[jedies]

. . . You're welcome.

[spiritwalks]

[Vyng suddenly stretches — both to get the kinks out of his back, and to redirect his energy toward something...less heavy. Something that isn't about the trauma-induced dissociative amnesia, and the horrifying memory he uncovered.]

I think I'm gonna ask for room service. Maybe a sandwich. Maybe a fucking pint of ice cream. [Because it's been that kind of day.] What about you? You want something?

[jedies]

[ he wrings some water from his cloak before he gives a reply. ]

I won't say no to some tea.

[spiritwalks]

[Vyng's wool tunic is fairly water-resistant. But his hair is still pretty drenched, so he starts dragging his towel across his scalp.]

Oh yeah? What kind?

[jedies]

I'm fine with being surprised.

[spiritwalks]

Very well. A surprise shall be arranged.


[Hope you like pine needle tea, Obi-Wan. Because that's what's waiting for you on the coffee table 15 minutes later.]

[jedies]

[ he's open to new experiences. ]

Well. That's interesting.

[spiritwalks]

[Vyng sinks into the couch cushions, sandwich clutched in one hand, a plate in the other.]

Allow nature's bounty to sustain you, friend.

[Also, his pine needle jar was getting full.]

[jedies]

[ obi-wan's lips curve. ]

Through tea?

[spiritwalks]

[A chuckle.]

It's got vitamins.

Is that how you get them to drink it?

[spiritwalks]
