[Baltus gets an absent pat with Qrow's free hand when his doggy snoot makes its way under his arm and onto his chest. His other continues to poke at his food with a fork, until Break calls him out on the change of atmosphere in him, at which point there's the tiniest freeze, before he suddenly shoves an entire big piece of potato in his mouth. The effect is lowkey comical, like a squirrel storing its nuts for the winter. (Qrow, for his part, is only trying to hoard more time to come up with an explanation)

After a moment, he swallows and tries a shrug.]

I'm fine. Hey, wanna go for a spar outside?
