Owlbert hooted in reply, and Luz couldn't help but take him in her arms and cuddle him a moment, glad for his company.

This is good though, because the moment that she enters the hospital her stomach plummets. She knows that the loss of leg working isn't at its worse, but it was still pretty bad and that made her extremely nervous about what would happen next.
