[Luz nodded quietly. There wasn't any need for words, not now. A part of her was definitely aware she shouldn't be seeing this, that this was something that ripped right into Lance's heart and weighed heavily on him. This was another time Luz found herself truly understanding the absolute wrecking of spirit that Deerington had on people, and the price of knowing some of that. Lance wasn't just some guy that she happened to meet: he was a friend, and knowing that this left such a burden made her want to help even if she knew that there was little she could do.

The lickers were something straight out of a horror video game, and what they seemed to do was unreal: it affected Allura so bad that Lance had little left he could do for her, and the moment she heard that part of conversation between him and the woman (Moira, she thought he said), it was clear what he was going to have to do.
