People needed to learn at some point they couldn't force Maul to do anything he didn't want to already do. he could be frightfully stubborn that way.

"Constantine told me how to do it. I have to feel true remorse for my actions. When I do, this potion--" He pulled it out of his pocket where he always kept it. "--will glow and I'll be able to drink it to remove it. But I have not felt it yet." Maul was so far detached from the emotion of remorse that Usagi flat-out had to explain it to him like he was a five year old. Maul's patience was beginning to grow thin with waiting for this emotion to somehow manifest itself within him.
