[ she huffs in impatience. ]

[ yes, she is heavily implying the fact he wasn't born when she was is his fault. it is! her life would be so different if she knew him in the 1480s. ]

I wasn't born for like three hundred of those years!

( that isn't his fault, katherine. you can't get at him for that. )

But that did prove that you're pretty patient, huh?

[manipulative]

That patience wore itself thin.

[ she playfully furrows her brows and tilts her head to the side as she taps her chin thoughtfully. ]

Oh! It snapped yesterday. No longer patient. [ she shrugs. ] Oh, well. I think it's only fair you tell me now.

( stefan opens his mouth like he might actually do just that before he shuts it again and shakes his head. )

You know, I think I've developed amnesia and I can't remember a thing I wrote. Oh darn.

[manipulative]

[ katherine hums long and low in her throat before she turns back to her food and, sporting an innocent look, eats. ]

And how selective is this amnesia? Is it only to your journals?

Dunno. I haven't tested it.

( he arches an eyebrow at her. )

Why, what are you wanting me to rememeber?

[manipulative]

[ she smiles innocently at him and traces her fork lightly along the edge of the plate. ]

Hopefully, you'd remember what prompted you to set up such a surprise romantic evening.

I have to have a reason to want to have a romantic evening with you?

( he can't just want to spend time with her and show her a good time. he smiles and reaches out, trying to take her hand. )

No reason needed. I just wanted to.

[manipulative]

[ while she happily lets him take her hand, she narrows her eyes and regards him with playful suspicion. no, she can't simply accept that. stefan may not be as notorious a schemer as her… but he's learned quickly. ]

Hm. [ her eyes only narrow even more. ] So, you just want to have a romantic dinner. Nothing else. Just eat romantically and sit romantically and be romantic, hm?

I didn't say that.

( why was she always so willing to try and make his words into something else? he shakes his head. )

I want to just eat dinner right now. Later on, that's negotiable.

[manipulative]

You said you wanted a romantic evening. I want to make sure it's as romantic as possible.

[ she smiles, very clerkly enjoying ribbing him. ]

Do you not want this evening to be at its most romantic, Stefan?

You do that a lot, you know. Take my words and make them into something completely what I'm not saying.

( he sounds amused, though. )

To try and make me look bad, I think.

[manipulative]

You only look bad in front of me.

[ she laughs lightly at that.

katherine then leans back in her seat and eyes him a little pointedly. ]

[ considering it's one of his many sexy shirts, well. ]

Are there shirts of mine that you don't like?

( he hopes he doesn't open up a minefield for critiques on his wardrobe with that one. )

[manipulative]

[ purposefully taking her time to think, she narrows her eyes as she mentally goes through his wardrobe. really, there's nothing that she hates now. ]

[ she smiles at that. ]

The one that's in the trash.

You threw one of my shirts in the trash?

( he feigns offense and shakes his head. that's just not going to go without notice. )

Time for me to throw a pair of your shoes into the trash.

[manipulative]

You can throw out the pair with the scuffed toe.

[ she smiles at him smugly. didn't expect that, did he? ]

It gives me blisters and it matches nothing in my closet.

Fine, I'll be sure to look for the pair with a scuffed toe but —

( he winks at her and smirks. )

My eyesight isn't great so I might choose the wrong pair.

[manipulative]

[ she rolls her eyes. ]

I liked it better when you were being nice to me. [ she waves her hand and sits back. ] Can we go back to that? Talking about shoe destruction is making me sad.

I'm always nice to you.

( talking about shoe destruction isn't that bad. she's just a drama queen. )

[ she holds up a finger and begins to count. pursing her lips, she takes a moment to consider, although she already has her list of infractions committed by him. ]

Five minutes ago. The other day. And when you kept reminding me that a building fell on me. It ruined my shopping experience.

A building did fall on you, Katherine.

( he thinks that was more of a thing that ruined her shopping experience than him reminding her of it. )

You're just very lucky that I haven't insisted on following you on every shopping trip you go on anymore.

[manipulative]

You'd get bored.

[ she waves her hand dismissively. if stefan was to come on all of her shopping trips, she has a feeling that she'd be coming back with fewer shoes.

Besides, that happened a bajillion years ago. [ she makes a disgruntled noise and reaches for her glass. ] I think it's about time we moved on, don't you think?

( he's never going to move on and he's never going to forget that because it was the most scared he's ever been. )
