She shakes her head. "I don't mean that. By my time, there weren't any real humans left. This disease killed most of them, long before I was born. The ones that were left, uh..." god, all of this information came so suddenly, the specifics are tough to keep track off.
"They were taken out of their bodies, became these ghost things called Shades, and they all went to sleep for a long time. Left androids behind to take care of things until the disease was gone. And then they had copies made of them, recreated every generation. The androids ran all their shit behind the scenes. I'm one of those copies."
She doesn't need to tell her all of this, but it's a hell of a lot easier than talking about herself.
"Eventually the Shades woke up. Half of 'em were crazy and just attacked us. The rest wanted their bodies back, didn't care that they were ours too. They didn't try to talk to us. We were just empty shells."
