And it registers as one, and Anna laughs with her whole chest at it. "Please. Nothing wrong with being an awkward loser. Some of my best friends are awkward losers," she says, and she holds back from adding that Ange is definitely dating one, but even if she did it would probably be clear that it's supposed to be extremely affectionate.

"Inspiration usually hits when we're not looking for it. In the meantime, I'm gonna be hanging out around here, learning more songs, doing more open mics. You know, when I'm not trying to keep the town and the people I care about safe."

It's not a bad balance she's trying to strike. It's a purpose all her own, and one that she thinks A2 can be happy with, too. It seems like she's finally starting to swing back into the idea of telling destiny to eat shit and fall off its metaphorical horse.

"You know how it is. Work hard, play hard, and make sure as many other people get the chance to do that, too."
