Not that any of that mattered, since regardless of whether said magic actually worked, it never had any more material effect than Sayo placing a candy under Maria's cup while she wasn't looking.
But... the principle of telling a story, of directing attention, of submerging herself in the creation of her Fragments... for a few moments, when she was knee-deep in the morass of ink, Sayo really had felt as if she'd made contact with a higher plane of reality.
