"They were," Luz said, smiling a little. "Just the right time, actually. I'm so lucky I have the family I do here, or it would have been as bad as when Varian had turned. I was lucky enough that I saw it happen and told people, otherwise hunters might have gotten to him."

And the idea of THAT was just scary. She was glad, at least, that she'd bonded with Varian AND had a tattoo they shared that would help one locate the other.

"B-but..." Luz began, then sighed. "I guess that's fair. If the situation was switched, I'd insist on making it, and chide the person disagreeing with me."

Luz moped, dragging the blanket over her head. "This suucks."
