"I had a feeling that might be the worst-case scenario," Luz said darkly, shaking her head. "The last thing I was going to do was let the possibility of one of those guys get a hold of Varian and let that happen. More death and more pain was something that I wanted to avoid. I'm glad that those kinds of guys aren't the Hunters on top."

Because if THAT was the case, Luz would have been quick to petition dissolving the Hunters having free reign to do whatever they felt like to corrupted Sleepers. It was a small consolation, but at least it was something.
