growing pains; for korra

The past few days have been... nice. As nice as they can be. Having Korra around has been a significant upgrade to her small house in Crenshaw, even if making space for Naga has been challenging. When she chose the house it was pure convenience — generally safe, not too far from the boys or Willful Machine where she's been trying to find some work. It feels a bit temporary, but she hasn't really been able to think about where else to go. The moon has her a bit antsy, checking over her shoulder all the time, and there's still so much she doesn't understand about this place.

It's the blood magic that's got her perplexed today. She has a couple books she picked up in Gaze and a note from a vendor in Willful Machine describing a ritual the people in Trench perform during this time of year. She's frowning at it thoughtfully at one end of the couch in their living room.

[The feathers take her right off the streets of the Willful Machine, and when she materializes in the canoe she's still got her arms raised protectively over her head. Her time here so far has been so peaceful, she almost forgot that this is the spiritual evolution of Deerington, and all those horrific things she heard of were bound to happen again here.]

[She lifts her head, quickly taking in their surroundings. The bodies on pikes ahead of them and the river under their boat, and then her companion.]
