( he reaches over and kicks the side of the cave. some rock crumbles. )
If there was light in here, would you be calling them light rocks?
no subject
[ she laughs, the night rocks glowing brightly. she eyes the wall of the cave and lets her gaze wander up to the ceiling. no big fissures form. the world won't fall in around them. ]
You have no imagination, Mr Burton.
no subject
( he will not be swayed. )
I don't need an imagination in this case.
no subject
[ she shakes her head and tsks, hoping he feels a little insecure at the clear pity she regards him with. ]
How can you be in a place and see it so literally? It's dull to look at a rock and see it as a rock.
no subject
( it's still a rock, wanda. )
no subject
she points up to the ceiling. ]
But what about the glow?
[ does that not make it exciting? don't break her heart. ]
no subject
( why would night rocks glow? night rocks would be just dark as night, wouldn't they?
if these rocks are anything, they're glow rocks. )
Glowing rocks? Glow rocks.
no subject
Glow rocks.
[ there's really nothing wrong with that at all. but since he's teased her about her story, she thinks it's only fair she teases him back. ]
That sounds very close to "glow sticks". Are you sure you want it to be "glow rocks"? People may mix them up.
no subject
( why were they talking so much about rocks? he doesn't want to talk about rocks. he just wants to get out of this place and not be surrounded by night rocks. )
And what do you know about glow sticks anyway?
no subject
[ she looks at him with a "duh" expression. what else is there to know about glow sticks? they glow and they glow brightly and they dim and put them in darkness.
smiling, she tilts her chin upward and playfully haughtily: ] Speaking of rocks is a sign of intelligence.
no subject
( you're a liar, wanda. not a bad one but he can tell you're lying. he just laughs, shakes his head. )
I think you might have hit your head on some rocks if you think that.
no subject
[ she laughs, aghast. her laughter echoes. ]
Because I am right? [ wanda's smile only widens. ] Because I am the one who says it?
no subject
( try again, wanda. )
Come on.
no subject
[ she cocks her brow. no, she won't give up on this. who's to say conversing about rocks isn't a sign of genius? she thinks it's a bloody good choice of conversation... especially when it's about her rocks. ]
Are you the rock police?
[ she snorts very ladylike. ]
no subject
( question for a question, wanda. )
Maybe we're both wrong.
no subject
I have a certificate. I can show you when we are out of here.
[ the certificate will say CHIEF ROCK EXPERT WANDA MAXIMOFF and also CREATOR OF NIGHT ROCKS. sometimes it's useful having her powerset.
she clears her throat and hums innocently, which means that she's not acting innocently at all. ]
Then you will eat your words.
no subject
( he knows what you can do, wanda, and he's not falling for it. )
You'll do anything you can to be right.
no subject
[ she straightens her spine and tugs her shoulders back smugly as she walks. the night rocks still twinkle above them. they seem to follow them as they walk through the caves. ]
My magic speeds up the delivery from the printer.
[ and, yes, lets her cheat. ]
no subject
( you're a cheater, wanda. )
I think you know you're wrong and you're gonna use your magic to make you right.
no subject
Doesn't that just mean I was right all along?
[ she chuckles. the ceiling continues to glow like the night sky. wanda finds comfort in it. even though it's not the night sky at all, the illusion makes being trapped in the catacombs feel… well, less trapping. ]
no subject
( he doesn't look at the rocks, choosing to keep moving forward to try and get them out of here. he's tired of the dark. )
Big difference.
