[For all the danger in the jungle, Fern hasn't been having too bad of a time. He's used to adventuring in jungles, after all, so for him this is more reminiscent of Ooo than it is Deerington. It's kind of nostalgic, honestly. All he needs is some kind of boss monster, some treasure to loot, maybe a fruit person or two, and this will be just like home.
But that isn't what he's getting now. He's stumbling through the jungle, not being particularly sneaky or stealthy, when he hears what sounds like - gasping? Not a good noise, and he immediately heads in the direction of it, using the feelings from the plants around him for some direction, assuming it's someone who needs help. And he isn't wrong.
