"Bravery," she said, without a moment's hesitation. It was perfectly logical, really. She was never going to be a philosopher or anything. Not enough education, not enough presence in the world. So no. She valued intellect, but it wasn't a place where she would ever thrive.

And as for strength...

Well, she had strength. She just didn't like to use it. There was a parable once. A mortal girl was gifted a bolt of lightening. She was told that if she used it to strike down her uncle, she would be given her place in the world. The girl refused. And the goddesses smiled. The true test of strength was knowing when she shouldn't use it.

Ariadne supposed, by that logic, strength could be her favorite. But it wasn't. She'd seen those who used it recklessly, violently. And she couldn't stand it.

"Bravery," she said again. "Although not the kind that always means rushing right into battle."
