I do not know what to say of the Prince of Sacrifices that isn't tainted by bias unbecoming in a Warlord. It was tainted by bias from the beginning; we all thought he was Sacrifice Reborn.
His father was the world to us. He could have been that world again, if he'd seen us as people and not a project. Not a fascinating mistake. Not as Evdokim's Folly, to be fixed. For all his centuries his hesitation made him vulnerable as a child and Biding exploited that. We courted that hesitation. We have ourselves to blame. I saw it happening and could do nothing, by then; I was his champion and he
was he jealous of me? I never knew,
sought other counsel. I considered seduction but he had eyes for only one man. And--I'll begrudge him--Biding had eyes for him. Even if he was enough of a narcissistic self-aggrandizing monster to send his whole Court to their deaths and pretend it was an injury done to him, he did--does--seem to feel something for his doxy his lover.
Now they're a gut-fused monster enthroned in a pile of corpses. May it bring them joy because nothing appears able to kill them. Whether or not one of them would wish it--Sacrifices' Prince-gift might have grown malignant and out of his control.
Biding always was good at getting him to do what he wanted.
