He's far too wrapped up in his own body, his own mind to take notice of Paul's damp palms or the notes in his voice. The only thing he can place out of ordinary is the more rapid tempo of Paul's heartbeat. He would have to adjust the time of his rhythm to match what he had created just a few minutes ago.
He does not know how Paul can see kindness in him. It was the last thing he expected to hear. But he likes the idea that he could be kind. Kindness is something many humans are poor at and something no angel has ever been. It is better than cruelty and he's learned it has a place next to truth.
