[ One way or another, Kainé's whole life has been a struggle for survival. Even during those warm days that she'd spent with her grandmother, there'd been too little food and the shadow of danger constantly looming over them. It speaks to just how hard that life was, that Trench affords her more opportunities for rest and pleasure. But it's only because somebody was there to pry her heart open that she's able to feel like she can take moments apart from that struggle.

Right now she can feel both of them touching her, hear two speaking in one voice. Kainé knows little about A2, but in this moment she can feel her perfectly, can see how she was there all along, intertwined in every nook and cranny of Anna. ]
