CW: mentions of child abuse | Hahah! Thank god I passed out before I hit this up this morning!

[ Growing up in the hellscape of his home, Shouto knows the taste of bile. Stomach roiling from being pushed past his limits and the hit that emptied its contents on the ground. Throat burning from the acid. Shaking hands covered with bits of undigested food. Room burning so hot you couldn't breathe. And through it all, the acrid stench of burning acid while a looming figure stood over him with demands and expectations.

There's no running away from me and no running away from yourself. Stand! Don't be so damn soft!!

No older than five, he didn't always have enough strength to keep himself from falling on his own vomit. Seeing Megumi in that state, self-imposed no less, triggers memories from his past agitating his omen who prowls at the edge of the clearing where the head disappeared.

A professional, Shouto keeps his head focused on helping Megumi than rebuking him. It's not the first time something from his hero work has triggered him. He knows how to keep himself in check. No longer worried for him, his expression settles back into its trademark neutrality.

There's no verbal acknowledgment of the gratitude just a simple nod as he hands over the water. When Megumi gets up, Shouto lets him go without interference unsure if his help would be welcome. He understands the need to get away from the stench and doesn't fault him for it. ]

Paleblood.

[ He corrects for the second time this month. He understands the confusion given his quirk but his blood doesn't freeze when exposed to air, it glows a luminous pale color. ]

What did you do back there? [ He follows up, not easily led astray. ] That wasn't blood magic.

[ Half a year in Trench and he's never seen anything like that. Working with other Hunters, he knows the mechanics of blood in this world and that was wholly unique unlike his quirk, it was easy to distinguish it from the blood magic of this world. ]
